We tend to ignore our moral failings. We justify them as inevitable. It’s the road many take to its final destination: self-hatred. First, our moral failings begin to wear us out. We find we lack enough strength to fight the desires. Second, we deceive ourselves and, soon, others. This leads to the third phase – we are stuck, having lost the ability to correct our ways or to progress in our life. Fourth, we give up on God, blaming Him. Last, we become dysfunctional – unable to give anything meaningful to others. We become a taker. Before we get to the mid-point of our downward spiral, we must seek God through prayer. We cannot pray too much. He will hear our plea when we still have the strength to reset our life. God will bring others to pick us up and help us heal (think Good Samaritan!).
