In James Chapter 2, Jesus’ half-brother warns us against showing partiality. The example he uses is someone who enters church with ragged clothes and sits to participate in worship. We are not to favor another who comes in with designer jeans and a Boss shirt. The root words for prejudice refer to pre-judging someone or some event. The main ingredient for pre-judging would be a bias about that person or action. Yet we only know a little of that person – and God knows them into their heart. We are always to love our neighbor and not jump to conclusions. God is the ultimate judge.
