The Life of The Party

We all know people who think of themselves as the life of the party. It’s almost like a role they take on the minute they come into a room. They have come to compete. With whom? Anyone who would dare to become more verbose or wittier. I always shy away as soon as I can from such people and seek those who are more humble. I try to connect, not compete. God has given gifts to everyone in the room – gifts I wish to receive: wisdom, gratitude, more light for my path. In such a way, God anchors me in reality. There is nothing fake about community brought by God. These are gifts that God, through His grace, wants to give to me. Those seeking to be in the audience of the one who came to compete don’t realize what they’re missing.
