Let’s Get Spiritually Fit This Year

Many set goals to lose weight, get stronger and healthier. Of course, this is wonderful – but only helps one part of our being. We need spiritual conditioning, as well. Why? To help us resist the world, the flesh and the devil. Too often, we come to God when we’ve already failed. He will always help us, no matter what. But wouldn’t it be easier to be stronger before the temptation comes? This requires disciplines that can be learned. We need a plan. We need to develop good spiritual habits. We need to be in the Word. We need time alone with God…but, first, we need to ask God to open our souls to His healing. We need to condition our spirit – the power deep within us….the ideas and attitudes that take precedence in moving us forward. It includes our emotions, our judgements and the actions of our will. These are the most personal parts of our being and we need to get them in shape through daily disciplines that puts God first in our day.
