Few people like change – usually it’s because it’s unpredictable. Sometimes, however, change is good because it’s needed. For example, there is the change of seasons, even it you live in an area where the changes are subtle. They’re still nice to experience and the earth definitely needs them. Personal changes can be emotional, even painful. God allows change, even promotes, it for our long-term benefit. God will always use change for our long-term good by putting his unique stamp on it, even when we make a mistake. “We know that in all (not some) things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Rom.8:28 NIV Change brought by God challenges us to improve – to be more like Jesus. Too often we pray for nice things that will make our life easier, but sometimes God allows our lives to become more difficult. We would be wise to pray, like Solomon did, for wisdom; wisdom to understand the why and the how.
