Forgiveness is a difficult discipline to manage. This is especially true if it involves a family member. If that family member is of your immediate family it can be almost impossible. Where do we start to heal? No doubt you have been forgiven and, of course, God has forgiven us. How can anyone possibly sin against us more than we have against God? How do we cancel the debt the family member owes to us? It has to start somewhere. Why not with you? Now. Forgiveness doesn’t mean denying what was done or forgetting the hurt. Consequences may remain that hinder reconciliation. Trust has to be earned back….but that process should commence. Forgiveness is a gift from you – and don’t we all love giving gifts? God shows you grace – you need to pay it forward! It’s a choice!
