Dallas Willard describes your soul as the deepest part of your being; like a stream of God’s living water inside you that brings contact by God in and through you. This living water can be felt and even spoken to. The Psalmist asks the soul “Why are you so downcast?” In order to hear it, however, we must quiet ourselves so we can acknowledge when it’s happy or downcast. Do you cling to it, long for it, yearn for it? The Psalmist did. We can find rest for our soul in the yoke with the Holy Spirit. Soul rest. Sounds inviting, doesn’t it?
