Wishful thinking

Thankfully, God has a sense of humor. When we pray out our outlandish wishes, God responds in the appropriate time and with the correct response for us. He also works within us on those sins we prefer to keep for ourselves. He reveals them to us in a clear manner. Consider David and Bathsheba. David compounded his original sin with Bathsheba by killing her husband, a loyal servant of King David so David’s sin would not be exposed. Oh, David did confess his sin to God, begged for mercy, and pleaded with God that he had learned his lesson. God still punished David for his wishful thinking that he could get away with it. Still, God called David the “apple of His eye” because he repented and was able to once again worship God. The consequences lingered, as they always do. Just like David, we need to rid ourselves of the excesses of our minds and bodies.
