Yes, we’re forgiven; no, the damage is not swept away!

Our mistakes are most always forgiven by those we have hurt, but the hurt caused remains. Trust is lessened inside the person injured. It’s so much easier to change our minds and fill our souls with the fruit of the spirit than it is to repair the long-term damage done by our selfishness. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are the fruit of a spirit possessing the mind of Christ. They grow on the same tree! So when you’re feeling selfish and you’ve lost faith in God and people, be very careful to identify these weeds trying to crowd out our faith: fear, impatience, guilt and feelings of inadequacy.
