It usually starts with pride. We think we know the right answer, the next step. We think we know better than those who caution us. Maybe we are afraid we will lose face if we don’t make a certain choice. Others will disapprove. Sometimes, we’re just confused, frustrated and tired – and we take the seemingly easy way out. Most of the time, though, it is from a desire for short-term pleasure. We give into temptation financially, sexually and pridefully. God gave us freedom. That’s just the problem. We use our freedom to fulfill the desires of our flesh. So the next time someone cautions us, we should probably take heed.
