The good that can come out of this pandemic

One thing we have done in our neighborhood is to get together on our street Tuesdays and Fridays for “Happy Hour” at 5:30 pm, when everyone is usually home from work. Actually, why limit “happy” to an hour? It usually lasted at least thirty minutes longer. We practiced social distancing and those who were not feeling well stayed home. We have gotten to know neighbors that we weren’t close to. We have a large plastic roller coaster for the little kids and, often, just order in Italian food to support our local small restaurant. It allows us to encourage those who have friends or relatives who are sick or unemployed. But mainly it is just sharing in something that is common to all of us….the need for belonging and hope.
