To Focus or Compromise?

New Year’s Resolutions often only last a few weeks. We lose focus. But why? They seemed to be the right goals just awhile back. We can’t seem to see the purpose of reaching the finish line any longer. Maybe we’re trying to be too perfect. We start to compromise on the tough choices we have to make to get to our definition of success. I’ve found that it’s more satisfying to set smaller current goals rather than huge long-term goals. The attainment of some early successes seems to keep me going and I will then set a few more challenging, but makeable, objectives for myself. It doesn’t all have to happen quickly – sprint vs. an exhausting marathon. Who am I setting these goals for – myself, or someone I’m trying to impress? There are only three people that matter when it comes to goal-setting: me, myself, and I!
