A standard of successful generals is not letting the enemy choose the battlefield. Why? Well, they get there first and have the time and will to set the stage in their favor. Instead, pick a different time and place, if possible. This is true in your own personal battles – whether with another or with your own demons. When discussing your own failures with another about alcoholism, don’t meet them at a bar. Satan is putting that thought in your head. Find the right time and location to meet with someone who holds you accountable. Give yourself every possible chance to set the agenda for the victory.
