A true friend puts others’ well-being right up with their own. Things are going to get bad for us at times. Does that mean we only think of our well-being? Jesus had been told of the murder of his best friend, John The Baptist, who was killed in a horrible way. Yet, when he went out to meet the crowds at Lake Galilee, he still met their needs when He took five fish and two loaves of bread, along with the faith of the boy that brought them to Him, and He multiplied what He had been given and fed, not only 5,000 men, but a crowd probably numbering 15,000 with the women and children. Follow His example: first, give thanks for what little you do have, pray for God’s blessing and give anyway. Even when you are hurting.
