We all put up a good front. All is good. We want everyone to think we have it under control. Underneath, where the bulk of the iceberg is we are a jumble of bad memories, guilt over past mistakes, fear of our enemies and fear of failure. We harbor anger leading to bitterness and, ultimately, we figure we’re just a bad person. The smallest things can hurt us. The problem is, when a special someone wants to connect with us, it’s like the Titanic hitting the iceberg that sunk it. We keep them at arm’s length. We don’t really open up. We have no chance to be transparent and real with them. Chances are, they’re not so perfect, either. We need to let the cold of the past melt so our iceberg shrinks more and more every day.
