God places more strictness upon leaders than on followers for an obvious reason. Leaders are teachers by imparting knowledge and by their own example of character. James, Jesus’ half-brother, said this in his third chapter. He says that, just like a small bit in a horses mouth or a small rudder on a big ship, the course ahead can be easily changed. Words begin with ideas and ideas begin with thoughts. We need to remodel our heart so it contains only good and pure thoughts and emotions. People will say that emotions just are – and that you should do whatever you think is right or what feels good. Wrong. Emotions are the result of past experiences that may have been the result of someone else’s evil intentions. We can’t lead until we correct those wrong thoughts. Let’s fix our hearts so that we won’t be the kind of people that even contemplates hatred. Then we can lead.
