Remember when Adam and Eve’s firstborn son, Cain, killed the secondborn son, Abel.? It was because Abel gave a faith gift for his first offering to God and Cain gave because it was expected. Abel got a better response from God than Cain and Cain was not happy about that and killed his brother. God asked Cain where his brother was. Cain said “How do I know? Am I my brother’s keeper?” Wrong answer. I’m capable of convincing myself that my sins were for the right reasons, too. But God knows the truth. He said “The voice of your brother’s blood is crying out to Me from the ground.” We can’t hide. I need to admit my sins. I need to own them and repent to never do them again. I don’t want to be the kind of person who will try to justify the evil I do.
