I know many young people who stress about what their future will bring – or if they even have one. Our lives stretch out for seven or eight decades, so what is the rush? The ministry chosen for Jesus happened gradually. Up until age twelve, Jesus was watched over by God as He grew in knowledge and stature and began to assert His Father’s plan for Him. Why? God was keeping Him safe until Herod died. Young folks should try to accept this time of growth and protection as they learn about life. From twelve to thirty, Jesus was applying his gifts within his family and community, contributing to those closest to him. God was continuing to prepare Him for the stressful times that lay ahead. By then, Jesus was committed to God’s plan for Him and undaunted by the enemies who tried to end His three-year ministry. If you know a young person who seems overwhelmed by life, teach them about Jesus and watch them blossom.
