When our son was five years old and had come along on a supermarket visit he set his eyes on a candy bar. We said no and he proceeded to throw a fit. He did what we said “our kid would never do”. He laid down on the floor, kicking and screaming. When he wouldn’t stop, I picked him up, stiff as a board, and carried him outside and laid him on the hood of our car. He finally stopped after a few more minutes of his tantrum. What do yours look like? Yelling and screaming, or totally ignoring the “perpetrator” tantrum might. What happened to our self-control? We lost our ability to reason in that moment. Frustrations happen in life and, if we don’t learn to react with reason, we have missed a growth opportunity. Our faith has been tested and we flunked. The world’s views won out this time. How about the next time?
