Who can I count on when I’m in a dark place? My closest (friend, relative or spouse). What about when it happens to them? Can they depend on me for counsel? Sometimes we just need to weep with them….even God weeps. We have emotions like many species do. But the one thing they don’t have is the ability to reason. Animals are mainly instinctive, although they learn through trial and error. So be the first to help a friend in need. The greater the pain, the less words are needed. Hug them and cry with them. Let them grieve. Grieve with them. Sharp pain may be temporary but for a death of a loved one, we will never be the same. So be with them early. That’s giving emotional first aid!
