Practicing Love

Love is one of the hardest words to define. It involves both mind and body. We feel the emotion through our senses, but is that love or infatuation? Love is also a decision…a commitment to another, especially in something as difficult as a marriage where two people with differing views on many things must learn how to listen to a spouse’s point of view – and give it value. Of course, part of love is giving gifts, spending time, understanding feelings, participating with another’s interests apart from my own. Love means being tender and accepting of faults, knowing we are not such a prize, after all. We share goals, we discuss problems openly. Malice competes with love from our innermost being. We must overcome our worldly desires and focus on “two becoming one.”
